Frequently Asked Questions:

1). Who can play for Bulldog Youth Football & Cheer?

            Any student enrolled in the kindergarten thru 6th tgrade for the 2018 school year will be eligible to play with one exception; any player turning 13 years of age prior to September 1, 2018 will be ineligible. Kindergarten, 1st and second graders will be offered flag football. 3rd through sixth graders will be offered flag or tackle football.
2). What are the ages for Cheer?
Our Cheer program is currently being offered for 3rd through 6th graders.
3). What is Rookie Tackle?
Rookie tackle is a new version of tackle football being offered through USA Football. Rookie Tackle will be offered to our 3rd and 4rh graders. Rookie tackle is tackle football on a shorter field and is played 7 vs 7.

4). When will practices begin?

            Practice will begin the first week of August. The first week of practice will consist of 4 days of conditioning without equipment and 1 day of conditioning with full equipment. Once school starts in August, practices will be three days a week with games on Saturdays. The head coach for each team will decide the team’s practice days and times.

5). Where will practices take place?

            Practice will be at the Middle School on Bagley or behind the former Fitch Intermediate School on Fitch Road.

6). Where and when will games be played?

            All games will be played on Saturdays. Several different cities each week will be a “host” city. Four or five games will be played at the host cities facilities every week with various start times. Games are usually scheduled between 10am and 4pm. Night games at the varsity fields under the lights have been scheduled in the past. Olmsted Falls will use the Middle School field when it is our turn to host.

7). How many kids will be on a team?

            We are going to do our best to keep the team numbers under 24 players so we get a great player coach ratio for our 5th and 6rh grade tackle teams. All flag and Rookie Tackle teams will have 12-14 players on each team.

8). How will the coaches be chosen?

            All coaching candidates will be interviewed by Executive Director John Jaeckin and Recording Secretary & Player Safety Coach Joe Singleton. The top coaches will be chosen as Head Coaches and all other candidates will be assigned as assistant coaches.

9). How will the teams be created?

            All the players registered will practice together and be evaluated by the entire coaching staff for the first two weeks of practice. The Head Coaches will then hold a draft and select the 6th graders they would like to have on their teams. When all the 6th graders have been evenly distributed throughout all the teams, the same process will take place for the 5th graders.

10). How much does this league cost?

            The registration fee for the tackle portion of the league is $200. The $200 includes insurance costs, referee fees, equipment rental, registration fees and equipment storage. There will be some level of fundraising required. Flag league costs will all be at &75.
